Pepperdine Shut Out by San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The Pepperdine baseball team was held scoreless for the second time this season, dropping the rubber match against San Francisco at Benedetti Diamond on Sunday afternoon.

The Dons (19-25, 7-11) broke the game open with a seven-run second inning and held the Waves (11-33, 6-12) to just five hits over seven innings as San Francisco won the final game of the series 16-0.

BIG WAVES
  • Freshman infielder Danny Cook (Monument, Colo.) went 2-for-3 with a double.
  • Senior infielder Julian Nunez (Encinitas, Calif.) hit .500 on the day, going 1-for-2 with a double.
RECAP

The Waves put a runner on third in both of the first two innings, but were unable to plate a run. After holding the Waves scoreless through two, San Francisco took a 7-0 lead, scoring seven runs on four hits in the bottom of the second.

The Dons added one run in the fourth and the fifth before the Waves loaded the bases with one down in the top of the sixth. Although the Waves had a runner in scoring position for the fifth time in the contest, San Francisco's reliever came into the game and immediately got a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.

The Dons added on seven more runs in the sixth before shutting the Waves out in the top half of the seventh to end the game with a final score of 16-0.
